Through Baptism

Who Is Baptism For?

Baptism is for everybody—infants, children, and adults—whether you are a member or not. Here at St. Paul, we follow the pattern found in Scripture: we baptize children first, then teach them in God's Word. For adults, we teach first, and then baptize them.

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19–20
What Is Baptism & Why Is It Important?

Baptism is not simply an application of water. It is water used with the instruction of Jesus and His promise of blessings.

"Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word." Ephesians 5:25–26
"Baptism now saves you." 1 Peter 3:21
"Be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38
"He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." Titus 3:5
Why Is Baptism Needed?

We all enter this world lost, broken, selfish, and with all kinds of wickedness, which God calls "sinful." This sadly leads us away from God and on a path to death.

"Surely, I was sinful from birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Psalm 51:5
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." Jeremiah 17:9
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved." Mark 16:16

Connect With One of Our Pastors

Here at St. Paul, we understand that the role of a pastor is important and vast. It's the pastor's responsibility to care for God's people out of love and desire by watching out for them (1 Peter 5:1–2), while also teaching, correcting, and preparing them for service to others (Ephesians 4:11–13). If you need pastoral care or services, please reach out and let us know.
