Track
Your child will have an opportunity to give glory to God each spring and also participate in a great fellowship event with other FVL Schools.  Each April, the students in grades 5-8 participate in a one-day track and field event against all the other FVL Schools from the Fox River Valley.  The track season begins in early March during physical education classes, and then expands to after-school practices that are optional.
The children learn about long-distance running, short-distance running, high jump, shot put, long jump, etc.   They also learn about how to take care of their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and learn to appreciate that exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle.
If you would like more information about the track season and ways your child can glorify God through sports, please contact Nate Kallies in the St. Paul Lutheran School Office at 733-9061.

Cross Country
Cross country is long-distance running in which teams of runners compete over open or rough terrain.  Individual runners compete for individual awards and teams of three or more runners compete for team awards.  The courses are between one and one and a half miles.  The cross country season is held in September and October.  The runners compete in four meets held on Mondays after school and practice is held once a week on Wednesdays after school.  Our cross country team exists for boys and girls in grades 4 – 8.

Basketball
St. Paul school has offered basketball at a competitive level close to one hundred years. The first championship came in the 1918-1919 school year and have had many more since.
St. Paul basketball is a member of the WELS athletic association and is divided by school size to keep the level of play more even. Basketball at St. Paul is free to students and offered to every student from kindergarten through eighth grade. The level of play is competitive and set in a Christian atmosphere.
Teams are divided by grade and consist of both boys and girls A and B teams. The A teams are generally seventh and eighth graders while the B teams are fourth through sixth grade. Kindergarten through third grade are members of our C team. The C team meets once a week and is set in a fun atmosphere to introduce the students to the game of basketball. This is also offered to the members of the School and Church at no further cost to the families.
The basketball season runs from November through February. Teams usually practice twice a week with games on Friday nights and an occasional week night game. There is also an end of the year tournament held for both A and B teams.
The teams are issued professional style uniforms and play in well-kept gymnasiums around the area. Coaches are selected by the athletic director and are approved by the St. Paul Board of Education. The men and women who are selected are of good nature and show positive Christian values at practice and on the sidelines.

Cheerleading
Among the other sports activities offered at St. Paul Lutheran School, cheerleading is offered during the basketball season for our girls in grades three through eight.  Many of our female students participate in both basketball and cheer.  Currently, there are two cheerleading teams—A team and B team, which cheer for their respective boys basketball teams.  The coaches assist the girls in building and expanding their God given talents in tumbling, stunting, and teamwork, as well as leading our students and all SPL Falcon fans in Christian sportsmanship.
